- Japan average wages (excluding extra payments) increased for the first time in more than two years in May
- Base wages—pay excluding overtime and bonuses—grew 0.2% y/y, the first y/y gain since March 2012
- The number of regular full-time jobs increased this year
- Average total wage, including overtime and bonuses for both regular and part-time workers, grew 0.8%, the third straight month of increase
The Wall Street Journal adds;
- Real wages, largely as a result of the tax increase, dropped 3.6% on year, the steepest fall since December 2009,
