There’s talk the US could introduce new sanctions as soon as today.
Whenever sanctions come and wherever they come from (Britain and Germany are pushing for a hard line), I don’t see a reason for markets to be frightened. The sanctions will almost surely be targeted and small.
With all the sabre rattling over the past two weeks, it’s almost a sure thing that sanctions are coming and they’re largely priced in. You might see some reaction or specific targeted sectors or some fear trades on the threat of Russian retaliation but for the most part I plan to fade any substantial market move, if it comes.
