Dr. Loretta Mester is President & CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland
She had comments reported from CNBC earlier
Now on Bloomberg TV saying pretty much the same sort of thing
- We're at full employment, inflation moving up
- Comfortable with rates being higher
- Will wait for discussion at next meeting
- Don't want to wait too long on tightening rates
- Gradual path leads to better outcome
- GDP growth is a bit above trend
- Forecast is fro unemployment to fall
- Don't believe we are behind the curve on rates
- Still uncertainty on fiscal side
- Uncertainty in the global economy & European banks
- If economy continues on path, comfortable with rate hike
- Some problem areas in the labor market
- We don't want to surprise market
- Our job is to base policy on the medium-term outlook
