A preview of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand core inflation data due Wednesday 23 January 2019

Earlier we had the Stats NZ data release, Q4 CPI surprised to the upside:

At 0200GMT we get the Reserve Bank of New Zealand measure of core inflation, Sectoral factor model:

  • The sectoral core factor model of inflation is one of many series that the Reserve Bank uses to help interpret inflation developments, as a measure of 'core' inflation
  • RBNZ says the gauge is one of their preferred measures.

I don't have an 'expected'

  • the previous was 1.9%

If this measure comes in higher (like the headline CPI did from Stats NZ) yoo can expect another run of higher for the NZD.
