The new Bank of Canada governor will almost certainly be revealed within the hour.
Unless it’s someone shocking, the decision shouldn’t matter for the Canadian dollar. My main takeaway is that Canadian government secrets are impenetrable.
There are a million ways for this thing to leak, most notably because the man/woman who has been picked is presumably waiting in the wings of the building where they will make the announcement.
Earlier this year virtually nothing leaked out ahead of the Federal budget and in 2012, the government was able to keep the Nexen decision secret (even from the insider traders).
