Caterpillar earnings beat sends US equity futures to session high

S&P 500 futures up by more than 0.6%

Caterpillar posted a solid earnings beat and shares closed in on 5% gains at one point after the release here.

Although yesterday we also had a beat in earnings for Alphabet (profit may have jumped, but so did expenses), it did little to lift sentiment in US stocks but the release by Caterpillar seems to be taken more positive and that bodes well for equities later on in the day.
