Robert Steven Kaplan takes over from Richard Fisher
Kaplan's appointment is effective September 8, 2015. The position has been vacant since Fisher retired in March. He will have a vote in 2017.
The 58-year-old was a Senior Associate Dean at Harvard Business School.
"Prior to joining Harvard in 2006, Kaplan was vice chairman of The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. with global responsibility for the firm's Investment Banking and Investment Management Divisions. Previously, he served as global co-head of the Investment Banking Division. He was also a member of the firm's Management Committee and served as co-chairman of the firm's Partnership Committee and chairman of the Goldman Sachs Pine Street Leadership Program," the press release said.
He's on twitter @robskaplan. (also, follow @forexlive)
Might as well skip the Fed and let Goldman Sachs set policy at this point.
