Wow, what a Test match and England go 1-0 up versus Australia with four Tests to play.

Today’s victory, by only 14 runs, ended with the third umpire overturning a Not Out decision having decided that Haddin had, in fact, ( see what I did there ?!) got the finest of nicks. A somewhat ironic end to a game that had seen more of its fair share of third umpire controversy, but one that was perhaps all the more remarkable for it. One thing for sure is that Haddin, like Broad ,was never going to walk.

An absolute corker of a game that at one point looked like it wasn’t going past the third day. I won’t bore the non-cricket lovers here ( are there any in fact Down Under or in Asia? ) but suffice to say hard lines to all you Aussies, but it proved that with Lehmann in charge you’re certainly not going down without a fight and could quite easily have won this one.

Next up is Lords this coming Thursday, and I can’t wait. I’ve already booked my days off and will be there for duration in the Pav, suitably close to the nearest bar !

I’m posting a pic purely for journalistic reasons of course ! And I promise that if the Aussies do win they will also be suitably done proud by me.

england win first test

Bring it on !
