The US has been calling for the EU to impose new sanctions on Iran, and the 12 May deadline still remains the key date for any international sanctions/deals with Iran.
Earlier in the day, Mnuchin said that renewed sanctions would not necessarily mean the US will pull out of the Iran deal - but the likelihood grows thinner by the day surely.
