Well, not to burst her bubble but the EU could very well face a similar situation in due time. Right now, the trade rhetoric between the EU and US has died down a little as the auto tariffs probe could potentially take the full 9 months to complete.
Should that be the case, if Trump still has the desire to push through with it, then tariffs on European auto makers will start to be a hot topic when we begin the 2019 calendar year. But if the tariffs probe manages to be completed before then, this is going to start becoming an issue for markets to digest in the midst of all the other trade disputes that are taking place right now.
