The latest forecast from the NHC
Florence is expected to be an extremely dangerous major hurricane through landfall.
The center of Florence will move over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda and the Bahamas through Wednesday, and approach the coast of North Carolina or South Carolina in the hurricane watch area Thursday and Friday.
Florence is expected to begin re- strengthening later today and continue a slow strengthening trend for the next day or so
Some weakening is expected Thursday
Storm surges as high as 8 ft expected
Surge-related flooding depends on the relative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle
Florence is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 15 to 20 inches with isolated maximum amounts to 30 inches
Oil is higher today but that's on signs of lower demand for Iran's oil. This storm isn't a factor for energy but Isaac right behind it could be. However there was some good news on it from the latest NHC advisory where they said "predicting Isaac's intensity has been challenging. Isaac appeared
to have been in relatively favorable conditions during the past day
or so, but it did not strengthen." Their main model shows it won't become a major hurricane.
