That is the second consecutive day that new cases top the 1,000 mark
This has not happened since early May and continues to stoke worries that a secondary wave of infections is brewing in the country. The number of active cases is estimated to be just above 9,000 now (it was ~4,700 in mid-July).
Meanwhile, another 8 deaths are reported and that brings the total tally to 9,183 persons who have died from the disease. As of yesterday, RKI estimates the 4-day virus reproduction rate to be at 0.99 with the 7-day value seen at 1.06.
Again, just something to keep an eye on in case the situation worsens in the coming weeks.
