Harsh words by Italy's deputy prime minister Matteo Salvini

  • Says that Italy is trying to change Europe from within
  • Hopes that 2019 EU elections will help with that situation
  • Current government aims to govern for a five-year term

At this point, Italy feels almost like a ticking time bomb. With budget projections looking very much unrealistic, it's rather certain the EU will not agree to the proposal that will be set out on 15 October. That's going to create a headwind for any gains in the euro until this mess is sorted out.
