Latest data released by the Japanese Machine Tool Builders' Association - 9 August 2018
- Prior +11.4%
The reading measures the change in total value of new orders placed with Japanese machine tool manufacturers. A slight uptick in factory orders and that is a welcome improvement after the declining trend we have seen for much of the year.
The data shows that orders are continuing to grow but not at the quick pace we have seen for the latter months of 2017. A minor data point nonetheless, feeds into overall Japanese economic sentiment.
