Merkel said to have accepted the two-week deadline to strike EU deal on migrants - report

Her CDU members have been rather supportive with their commentary on the day, but the optimism surrounding the issue is one that will be fleeting. It is also reported that Merkel's CDU party is set to reconvene on 1 July to finalise any deal on the issue.

The EU Summit taking place later this month will surely be one to watch and will be a key timeline for Merkel and her government.
