Barclaycard (this is the credit and debit card division of Barclays) data for June:
- Consumer spending +5.1% for June, same as the rise in May (May was the strongest for more than 12 months)
Barclaycard comments:
- Shoppers remain cautious
- 4 out 10 say they will delay purchases of big-ticket items until the economy seems more settled
