Self-styled global warming warrior President Barack Obama is opening up more offshore drilling territory.
The hypocrisy of the White House is astounding.
Obama has staked what’s left of his Presidency on fighting the Keystone XL pipeline. He talks about it as if it’s a fight against dirty oil, protecting water and battling global warming.
Meanwhile, the White House has just announced that it will open up offshore oil drilling from Virginia to Georgia, which is about 1000km of coastline. The WSJ revealed the plan earlier today so it’s no surprise.
But it’s incredibly hypocritical to expand offshore drilling when it caused the largest environmental catastrophe in a generation while at the same time blocking a safe way of transporting oil that will be extracted no matter what.
You stop a pipeline because it will harm the environment and contribute to global warming. However, all systems go off shore from Virginia to Georgia. But all systems stop anywhere near Florida, Alaska or Canada. I guess oil off the Southeast Coast doesn’t cause global warming.
