New Zealand food prices for April
The New Zealand food price index for the month of April rose by 0.1% versus 81.0% gain last month.
The index rose by 2.3% from the same month last year.
Food prices make up nearly 19% of the New Zealand consumer price index
- fruits and vegetables fell -0.9% vs a 5.8% gain in March
- meat, poultry and fish fell -0.9% versus a 1.2% gain in March
- grocery foods rose 0.4% versus 0.0% last month
- nonalcoholic beverages rose 1.1% versus 0.0% last month
- restaurant meals/ready-to-eat meals rose 0.6% versus 0.1% last month
For the YoY
- fruits and vegetables felt -0.9% versus +4.3%
- meat, poultry and fish rose 2.1% versus 1.2%
- grocery food rose 2.5% versus -0.1%
- nonalcoholic beverages rose 4.5% versus +0.6% last month
- restaurant meals/ready-to-eat meals rose 2.9% versus 2.4% last month
