China trade data hit earlier: China Q1 trade balance data: 326.1bn yuan surplus

China has recorded a huge rise in imports from the US for the first quarter of the year

• Imports from the US up a whopping 8.9% y/y

Oh, this too ...

• Exports up 14.8% y/y
• Trade surplus with US +19.4% y/y

yeah, I bolded the big jump in imports and kept the even bigger rise in exports and the surplus in non-bolded. Hopefully no one in the White House notices that bit
