For the year the index is up 6.25%
The FTSE 100 is trading above the 7600 level for the 1st time ever. For the day the index is up 1% on the day. For 2017, it is up 6.25%. That is the good news. The not so good news is the index is lagging the major indices for the year.
By comparison:
- German Dax is up 14.20%
- France's Cac is up 10.5%
- Euro Stoxx 50 is up 8.3%
- Dow Jones Industrial average is up 25.59%
- Nasdaq is up 29.43%
- S&P is up 20%
- Japan's Nikkei is up 19.63%
- Hong Kongs Hang Seng is up 33.48%
So a milestone yes, and up on the year, but a laggard by comparison.
