Latest data released by the UK Nationwide Building Society - 27 June 2018

  • Prior -0.2%
  • House price index +2.0% vs +1.7% y/y expected
  • Prior +2.4%

The data was scheduled for release at the top of the hour, but was released early. Still waiting for the full report on the website though.

Alright, report is out now. The annual house price has softened to 2% with London house prices falling the most in Q2, down 1.9% y/y. And the average dwelling price recorded for June was £215,444.

Not a major release by any means and although it beat expectations, let it not distract you from the fact that the annual growth in June is the slowest in five years. With subdued economic conditions, expect more of the same sentiment in the UK housing market in the second half of this year.
