5 cans of Coke a day for the billionaire

Warren Buffett follows all the rules for long-term investing success but he breaks all the rules for long-term living. The 84-year-old CEO of Berkshire Hathaway has a diet that would send most to an early grave.

Buffett says he drinks 5 cans of Coca-Cola or Cherry Coke per day along and gorges on potato sticks.

"I'll have one at breakfast," he tells Fortune, noting that he loves to drink Coke with potato sticks. What brand of potato sticks? "I have a can right here," he says. "U-T-Z" Utz is a Hanover, Pennsylvania-based snack maker.

"This morning, I had bowl of chocolate chip ice cream," Buffett says.

"I checked the actuarial tables, and the lowest death rate is among six-year-olds. So I decided to eat like a six-year-old." The octogenarian adds, "It's the safest course I can take."

Berkshire Hathaway owns $16 billion in Coke shares.

Buffett delivers his annual letter to shareholders on Saturday in what will be a special edition that could be more revealing than usual.
