For real - this is something new. Up until now the EU had kept under wraps any details of a possible customs union.
Irish PM Varadker today though suggested the UK would be able to have a say in trade deals if it forms a customs union with the EU.
- "I would like it to be considered the possibility of the customs union being formed between the UK and EU"
Obviously a customs union would go a long way to help solve the Irish border issue.
but up until now the EU had pretty much a 'fight club' rule in place on the union. Leaky Varadker or strategic comment? It would go a long way to solving a red line issue for him.
