The Chinese state media reports that Xi sent a message of congratulations to Putin on the latter's election win in Russia over the weekend here. The Chinese foreign ministry also comments that "China and Russia are each other's largest neighbours and comprehensive strategic partners in the new era". Adding that "under the guidance of Xi an Putin, China-Russia relations will continue to move forward".
